Wes Okafor - Owner & Lead Insulation Technician
I’ve been sealing and insulating homes since 2016, and I’ve learned that the number on the blower-door test tells you everything the marketing copy won’t. Before I started Topside Attic Insulation Seguin, I spent years watching crews blow fiberglass over unsealed top plates and call it a day. I built this operation around the opposite approach: seal first, measure second, insulate third. I’m BPI-certified (Building Performance Institute - the standard for whole-home energy diagnostics), and I still climb into attics on most jobs because the only way to price work honestly is to see what we’re dealing with. My truck has 287,000 miles on it, mostly from running between Seguin, McQueeney, and the Lake McQueeney subdivisions where attic access hatches are still cut too small for a grown adult.
Marcus T. - Senior Installer
Marcus has been installing insulation for eleven years, and he can tell by the dust pattern on a rafter whether someone’s already tried to fix a problem and made it worse. He specializes in spray foam applications - open-cell and closed-cell - and he’s the one we send when a job in the Seguin historic district requires navigating original balloon framing without damaging it. He’s OSHA-10 certified and holds an R-5 respirator fit clearance for spray foam work. Off the clock, he restores vintage Chevrolet trucks, which explains why he owns four different types of rivet guns and knows the thermal bridging value of every one.
Dana L. - Service Coordinator
Dana answers the phones and schedules the jobs, but her real role is making sure no homeowner is left guessing. She’s the one who sends the written scope, the written price, and the technician arrival text - Haven Standard Clause 1 and the arrival protocol both run through her. Before joining us, she coordinated logistics for a commercial HVAC contractor in San Antonio, so she knows how to read a set of plans and spot when a square-footage estimate doesn’t match the actual footprint. She keeps a map of Seguin subdivisions on her desk with notes about which ones have HOA insulation requirements, which helps us show up with the right paperwork already prepared.
Elijah R. - Apprentice Technician
Elijah joined us in 2023 after two years in residential pest control, which turns out to be excellent preparation for attic work in Seguin. He’s seen every variety of rodent damage, moisture staining, and compromised vapor barrier that Texas humidity can produce. He’s completing his training in air sealing and blower-door testing, and he’s already certified in lead-safe renovation practices (RRP - required for pre-1978 homes). His current project is documenting every can-light penetration he finds in Seguin attics built between 1985 and 2005, because that’s the era when electricians loved to cut oversize holes and never seal them. He grew up in Geronimo and still lives there, so he understands why a house near the Guadalupe River floodplain needs different moisture management than one on the ridge above town.
